Proximity is an application that allows a Tenant to set up an effective marketing campaign intended for end-users who perform specific actions on the Splash Portal.
If the application is enabled in the Marketplace, then it is possible to use it.
Control Panel management
After opening the application from the Marketplace, in the first page displayed, it is possible to see the list of all the available campaigns.
SMTP settings
It is not mandatory to specify SMTP settings. If you leave this data blank, then the sender of your communications will be Cloud4Wi (default sender).
If you want to configure a custom email sender for your communications, then you have to click the Email settings button in the command toolbar from the first screen.
After that you can set your SMTP data in the window you got.
By clicking the Test button you can check if your data are correct or not.
Creating a new proximity marketing campaign
By clicking the Add button in the command toolbar from the first screen, it is possible to create a new proximity marketing campaign through a guided procedure consisting of 4 operative steps:
Trigger
If an event is raised by the end-user on the Splash Portal, then the marketing communication is sent to him. This first step defines what this event may be.
Currently, it is possible to select the following events:
- Connect: when the end-user opens the Splash Portal for the first time.
- Sign in: when the end-user tries to log in or register from the Splash Portal.
- Logout: when the end-user tries to log out from the Splash Portal
In the future we are also going to support the following events:
- Visit: when an end-user, who previously logged in, opens again a page on the Splash Portal with the same user device. This event may be captured, when supported by the Access Point used, since the application is able to compare the current MAC address of the end-user, with past sessions of authenticated end-users.
- Dwell: when an end-user, who previously accessed to the Splash Portal, browses through the pages of the Splash Portal for a certain time, without logging in. This event may be captured, when supported by the Access Point used, since the application is able to compare the current MAC address of the end-user, with past sessions of authenticated end-users.
- Browse: when an authenticated end-user is browsing through the pages of the Splash Portal.
How
This configuration part determines the way through which the marketing communication is sent to end-user.
Currently, it is possible to select the following methods:
- SMS: if the end-user has a mobile phone number specified and accepted to receive marketing communications, then the message is sent to that mobile phone (if messages are available on the WiFi Area). If this option is selected, then some further data are required, such:
- Message: it is necessary to specify the message for all defined languages. It is possible to select the option Same content for all languages in order to define a unique content for all languages.
- Email: if the end-user has an email address specified and accepted to receive marketing communications, then the message is sent to that email address. If this option is selected, then some further data are required, such:
- Source email address: this is the email address that will be displayed as sender.
- Email Subject: this is the subject of the message.
- Message: it is necessary to specify the message for all defined languages. It is possible to select the option Same content for all languages in order to define a unique content for all languages.
In the future we are also going to support the following methods:
- Social: if the end-user registered to the Solution through a Social account, then the marketing communication may be published as a post on the profile/timeline belonging to the end-user, in the same way as Social Login (for details on this, please read Social Login: logging in to the Splash Portal through "Social" access credentials and related articles)
- Mobile App: the marketing communication is sent as mobile push notification.
- In Browser: the marketing communication is displayed as a window in the browser.
What
This configuration part determines the content of the marketing communication.
Currently, it is possible to select the following options:
- Custom: by selecting this value, it is possible to specify a custom content for the message
In the future we are also going to support the following options:
- From App: by selecting this value, it is possible to specify to send a content created through a Cloud4Wi application (for example: a coupon campaign created with Coupons or Net Coupons, a survey created with Survey or Survey Pro, etc.)
- Prize: by selecting this value, it is possible to recharge the user as a consequence of the action, in order to increase user loyalty.
Summary
In this last step it is necessary to confirm the choices of the previous three steps, and add the following data:
- Campaign name: the name of the campaign that you are going to create.
- Validity: the time interval where the campaign is valid.
After all data have been entered, it is possible to save the campaign by clicking the Save button.
