Customizing the Splash Portal defining content blocks

The content blocks section, accessible from the Splash Portal section, is dedicated to the creation and management of the contents that populate Splash Portals that were created from a Splash Portal template.

The content can be associated to a information block during the creation of Splash Portal or later, during the editing phases. The Tenant can create different types of content blocks, which will be stored in this section: the main page summarizes all content blocks in tabular form, indicating their type and date of creation.

The command toolbar provides some features in order to search and create a new content block, as well as the access to the section where images are stored.

Creating a new content block

The Tenant can create a new instance of Splash Portal. To do this it necessary to click the Splash Portals button in the quick access toolbar, then click the Content button in the command toolbar of the page, and then click the Create New button, again on the command toolbar of the page. The data to enter are the following:

  • Name: the name to assign to the content block.
  • Description: a short description of the content block, useful for displaying purposes.
  • Align: the alignment of the content block respect to the information block. May be:
    • None
    • Left
    • Center
    • Right
  • Type: indicates the type for the content block. Content types vary depending on their features and are as follows:
    • Text: allows to publish a based HTML code content within a Splash Portal block. An editor, embedded in the page , allows to easily generate a HTML code , even for those who have not any knowledge about this language.
    • Image: allows to add one or more images (clickable, redirecting to a specified URL, if wished) within a Splash Portal block. The image can be selected from those stored in the Images gallery section. This content block can now be used also as "logo" in the appropriate logo content block.
    • Facebook: allows to publish, within Splash Portal block, the messages flow coming from a public Facebook page. Learn more
    • Twitter: allows to publish, within Splash Portal block, the messages flow coming from a public Twitter page. Learn more
    • RSS: allows to publish, within Splash Portal block, the messages flow coming from an external RSS source. Learn more
    • Slider: allows to create, within a Splash Portal block, an images slider using the those stored into the Images gallery section.
    • Login: allows to create, within a Splash Portal block, an area dedicated to the end-user login.
    • Footer: allows to create, within a Splash Portal block, an area containing contacts and reference. Please note that the all the URLs must be entered without the http:// prefix.
      For example:
      www.acurixnetworks.com
      is correct. On the contrary:
      http://www.acurixnetworks.com/
      is not correct.

  • CSS Class: the names of one or more CSS classes to apply the selected content block. The names of the classes must be separated by whitespaces.
Each content must be defined for each language selected in the Splash portal languages option (in the International Settings section).

Editing a content block

Each single content block can be edited by clicking its name and the Edit button in the command toolbar. During the editing phase, it is possible to modify the following parameters:
  • Name
  • Description
  • Allgn
and, in addition, the parameters depending on the particular content that has been selected.
 

Cloning a content block

It is possible to create e new content block starting from data belonging to another block. To do this it is necessary to click the name of the content block to clone and then click the Clone button. The form for the creation of a new content block will be opened, filled with the data of the selected one.
 

Deleting a content block

Deleting a content block is possible, but only if this is not used by any Splash Portal in the system. To do this operation it is necessary to click the name of the content block and then click the Delete button.
