Location Awareness (Node configuration)

Location Awareness (Node configuration)

Location Awareness

In conjunction with the Location Awareness features on the Controller, the options below enable the sending of the VAP/AP location value to the Controller via Radius messages.

The messages are sent upon a user association i.e. before the user obtains an IP address, therefore before any configured Splash Page is loaded.  The location value is sent in the Radius NAS-Identifier field.  Note: Location Awareness values also need to be configured on the Controller serving the users attached to the Node this VAP is on.

Upon receiving the location information the Controller will store the location value against the user record.  Any subsequent Radius messages, and web redirections for the user, will include the location information, therefore alternative Splash Pages may be presented.

Controller Proxy IP

This is the IP address of the Controller (Listen IP) NOT the IP address of the server (hardware).

Controller Proxy Port

This is the port value as setup on the Controller (Location Radius Port) specifically for the Location Awareness feature.  Default is 1645.

Controller Proxy Secret

This is the Radius secret as setup on the Controller (Location Radius Secret) specifically for the Location Awareness feature.

Location

This is the string value for the AP location as sent to the Controller in the NAS-Identifier field.  Note: spaces are not allowed.
